GROVER HILL, Ohio — John Robert “JR” Hinchcliff, 91, died Saturday, Aug. 3 at the Van Crest Nursing Home, Van Wert, Ohio.

He was born March 28, 1928, the son of the late John Robert and Nellie Mae (Case) Hinchcliff. On Dec. 3, 1949, he married Eladis A. Gribble, who preceded him in death in 2013. He was employed and retired in 1990 from Sims Cabs in Payne, Ohio. JR enjoyed his grandchildren, fishing, woodworking and watching John Wayne westerns. He didn’t know a stranger and loved sharing stories with anyone who would listen.

He is survived by his sons, DeWayne (Susan) Hinchcliff, Reginal (Melanie) Hinchcliff, Wendel K. Hinchcliff, and Landall (Christina) Hinchcliff, all of Grover Hill; daughter, Shelia (Pat) Kipf of Springfield, Missouri; 16 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

JR is preceded in death by four brothers, three sisters and a grandson.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2019, at Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding. He will be laid to rest in Middle Creek Cemetery at a later date.

Visitation will be 4 – 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, and on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
