MENDON, Ohio — Thelma A. Houser, 82, of rural Mendon, died Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2019, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in Saint Marys.

She was born Dec. 21, 1936, in Auglaize County, to the late James and Matilda (Hebert) Sampson.

Thelma married James D. Houser on July 7, 1956, and he preceded her in death Dec. 5, 2008.

Children — Richard (Debra) Sampson of Forest, Joseph Houser of Celina, Patrick Houser and Daniel (Shyla) Houser of Mendon, Debra (James) Dotson of Pensacola, Florida, Lynn (Roger) Sell of Rockford, and Shirley (Travis) Dicke of Ohio City

Brothers and sisters — Merle Sampson of Swanton, Albert (Catherine) Sampson of Dublin, Jean Young of Van Wert, Shirley (Clay) Davis of Lima, and Matilda Washburn of Saint Marys.

Thelma was preceded in death by two sons, Dennis and Terry Houser and three brothers, James, Bernard, and George Sampson.

Funeral services were held at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home in Mendon, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 31. Pastor Randy Christian officiated. Burial followed at Swamp College Cemetery, near Celina. Calling hours were 5 - 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, and 10 - 11 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home in Mendon.
