DELPHOS, Ohio — Urban Conrad Fuerst, 97, of Delphos, died on Friday, Aug. 2, 2019, at Van Crest Healthcare Center.

He was born on June 9, 1922, in Delphos, to Hank and Rosa Saum Fuerst. His mother remarried Gus Fuerst. Urban married Ann Hotz who passed away in September of 2000.

Survivors include:

Daughters — Jenny (Mike) Daniel of Troy, Pam (Bill) Baxter of LaGrange, Indiana, and Teresa (Gary “Red”) Wolke of Delphos

Son — Duane “Dewey” (Bev) Fuerst of Van Wert

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and a daughter, Debra Benner; sisters, Fronie Rode, Vena Rode, Rita Mater, Gussie VanAutreve, and Ellie Bohnlein Lehmkuhle.

He was member of the United States Army serving in the South Pacific in World War II and recalled during the Korea Conflict.

A funeral mass will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 5, 2019, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Military grave rites will be performed by Delphos Veterans’ Council. Visitation will be Monday at Harter and Schier Funeral Home from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.
