VENICE, Fla. — Walter W. “Buck” LeValley, 95, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Nov. 28 at Tidewell Hospice in Venice, Florida after a brief stay. He was born on Sept. 29, 1923, in Dublin Township Mercer County, Ohio, to the late Clarence S. and Mary Elizabeth (McBee) LeValley. On Jan. 18, 1947, he married Virginia L. Schaadt, who preceded him in death on Nov. 11, 2011.

Buck is survived by his son, James R. (Jean) LeValley of North Ft. Myers, Florida; a daughter, Pamela J. (Stephen) Hargett of Greeley, Colorado; three grandchildren, Derek J. (Amy) LeValley of Nolanville, Texas, Chad (India) Hargett and Aubree D. (Lucas) Marone, both of Ft. Lupton, Colorado; and six great-grandchildren, Juniper, Corrigan and Lindley LeValley of Nolanville, Texas; Lane and Ryan Hargett and Giada Marone of Ft. Lupton, Colorado.

Besides his parents, Buck was preceded in death by his three brothers, Ted, Bill and Bob LeValley and his three sisters, Marguerite Hathaway, Helen Brenneman and Marie Ley.

Buck retired in September 1983 as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He was a 1940 graduate of Van Wert High School. He served his country (1943-1945) in the United States Navy, during WWII in the South Pacific for 22 months. He was a former member of Calvary Evangelical Church in Van Wert. He was also a lifetime member and past commander of the American Legion Post 178 and a charter/life member of the VWF Post 5803, both located in Van Wert, Ohio. He was an avid golfer until the age of 85 and also played slow pitch softball for 22 years when he and his wife, Ginny, wintered in Florida. He loved the Cincinnati Reds (a fan since 1937), The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Indians and Browns.

There will be no funeral services. A memorial will be held at a later date in 2019. Farley Funeral Home and Crematory of Venice, Florida, was in charge of arrangements.
