    CONVOY — Crestview’s volleyball team was clicking on all cylinders in Tuesday’s Division IV tournament opener, and Jefferson…well…was not. The result was a 25-4, 25-13, 25-15 shellacking that advances the 8th-seeded Knights (17-6) to a Thursday night meeting with top-seeded and #1-ranked St. Henry at St. Henry. The 10th-seeded Lady Cats’ season ends at 5-18.

    CONVOY- The Crestview Lady Knights welcomed the Delphos St. Johns Lady Jays to the Crestview Sporting Complex on Tuesday night for girls high school for the sectional semi-final action for Division III. The Lady Knights won the contest 4-1 to advance to sectional finals on Saturday night.

    ST. MARYS — The Van Wert Cougar concluded their season on Monday in a loss to fellow WBL member, St. Mary’s. The Rough Riders jumped out early and never looked back as the Cougars were shut-out 5-0.

    CELINA — The Van Wert High School Boys Cross Country team finished as WBL runners-up for the fourth consecutive season at Saturday’s WBL Championship Meet in Celina. The Division II squad competed well against the WBL Champion Defiance Bulldogs, a state-ranked Division 1 team, scoring 67 points to Defiance’s 26.
  • Grove barely edges Lincolnview, Crestview places third at NWC meet

    SPENCERVILLE — Columbus Grove won both the boys’ and girls’ titles in the Northwest Conference cross country meet run Saturday morning in Spencerville. The boys’ race featured a tight battle with Columbus Grove (30) edging out runner-up Lincolnview (33) by 3 points. Lincolnview girls also finished second while Crestview took third place in both races. Junior High races were won by Lincolnview (boys) and Columbus Grove (girls).

    BATH-The Van Wert Lady Cougars girls soccer travelled to Lima Bath High School for girls sectional semi-final against the Lima Bath Ladycats on Monday night. Bath picked up a 9-1 victory over Van Wert to advance to play the Elida Lady Bulldogs on Thursday night.

    CONVOY — Columbus Grove is in only its second year of varsity girls soccer, but you certainly couldn’t tell it while watching the Bulldogs out-gun Crestview 4-1 Saturday morning. Grove out-shot the Knights 24-7 overall and 15-3 on goal. The Bulldogs are now 3-10-0, the Knights 2-14-1.

    ROCKFORD — On a cold, windy, rainy Friday night, Delphos St. John’s and Parkway toughed it out in a close, well-played MAC game, won by the Blue Jays 27-22. St. John’s is now 2-6 overall and 1-5 in the MAC. Parkway is 1-7 and 1-5.

  • Van Wert girls tennis at District tournament

    BOWLING GREEN — For the first time since 1991 the Van Wert Lady Cougars sent a pair of girls to compete in the District tournament in tennis. While the girls didn’t get the result they wanted they certainly didn’t disappoint. After losing the first set handily Paige Moonshower and Olivia Kline came back and competed to push a third set. The doubles team eventually fell to Oak Harbor 1-6, 7-5, 4-6.
