CELINA - The Wayne Trace wrestling team traveled south down U.S. 127 on Tuesday night to take on a Celina squad in a non-league dual match at the home of the Bulldogs.

When the final match of the night was over, it was the host Bulldogs who posted a 43-34 win over the Raiders.

Jarrett Hornish opened the match at 120 with a pin of Celina’s Landon Engle in 3:11 to get Wayne Trace on top 6-0.

After Celina’s Zack King won by forfeit at 128, the Raiders’ Hunter Long won by pin over Joe Warner in 1:53 to put the Raider lead at 12-6.

The Bulldogs’ Aric Gallimore posted a technical fall victory over Samuel Moore at 138 to get Celina within 12-11 but Wayne Trace responded.

Seth Meggison defeated Jakob Poor 10-0 as the Raiders pushed the lead to 16-11 but the Bulldogs answered.

A 12-4 win by Gavin Brown over Elliott Boroff at 152 followed by an Alic Gallimore pin of Carson Rupp at 1:21 that gave Celina its first lead at 21-16.

Wayne Trace’s Eli Moore temporarily gave the lead back to the Raiders at 22-21 after a pin of Tyler Carlin at the 2:56 mark.

It would be the final lead of the night for the red, white and blue, though.

Back-to-back forfeits to the Bulldogs proved to be the difference as Celina seized a 33-22 lead after wins by Alex Stachler (182) and Luke Muhlenkamp (195).

Celina’s Cory Fortkamp extended the margin with a 10-2 win over Kaden Woolbright at 220, pushing the Bulldog lead to 37-22.

Wayne Trace’s Jacob Graham recorded a pin of Cayden Thomson in 4:47 at 285 to get the Raiders within 37-28 before the Bulldogs’ Landin Wallace clinched the Celina win with a pin of Arin James in 42 seconds at 106.

The Raiders’ Gabe Sutton wrapped up the match with a pin of Celina’s Brycen Miracle in 5:21, winning the 113 pound match.
