HAVILAND - Emily Dyson singled with one out in the bottom of the seventh to score Sara Edwards and lift the Wayne Trace Raiders to a 2-1 victory over Ayersville in Green Meadows Conference softball action Tuesday night.

Dyson’s single to right field plated Edwards from second base as the Raiders opened up league play with a victory as Wayne Trace improved to 5-2 overall.

Madilyn Brigner singled with one out to get the rally started before Edwards pinch ran for the Raider hurler. Meagan Speice followed with a single to move Edwards to second and set up the game-winner.

Wayne Trace had jumped in front 1-0 in the bottom of the second, getting an Anne Eklund walk before a Katie Doster single moved Eklund to third.

Brigner then singled to left field to score Eklund and put the Raiders on top.

Ayersville tied the game in the fourth.

A Kelly Limbaugh single started the frame before a fly out and a sacrifice bunt moved Limbaugh to third.

Chloe Bowen then singled to left field to knot the game at 1-1.

Those two hits were the only hits that Ayersville recorded in the contest as Brigner and the Raider defense shut down the Pilot offense.

Brigner finished the night scattering the two hits while striking out four.

Hailey Johnson took the loss for Ayersville, allowing three hits, one run and one walk while striking out two in four innings of relief work.

Aubrey Florence tossed the first 2-1/3 frames, giving up two hits, four walks and one run. Florence also struck out five Raider hitters.

Brigner also led the Wayne Trace offense with two singles and a run batted in.

Doster, Speice and Dyson picked up the remaining Raider hits.
