FORT JENNINGS- The Crestview Lady Knights travelled to Fort Jennings High School on Thursday night for girls non-conference soccer action against the Fort Jennings Lady Musketeers. Fort Jennings picked up the 7-0 victory over the Lady Knights.

Fort Jennings started the scoring early in the first half. With thirty seconds off the first half clock, Madison Neidert low cross found Maddison Dickman who smashed the ball into the back of the net.

In the 7th minute, the Lady Musketeers were awarded their first corner kick. Neidert’s corner kick was met by Kristen Luersman, which gave her space to strike the ball cleanly and score the second Lady Musketeers goal, 2-0.

Neidert went from being the assister to the goal scorer as Neidert dribble around a group of Lady Knight defenders and beat the goal keeper to give Fort Jennings a 3-0 lead after nine minutes.

The Lady Knights almost got a goal back in the 22nd minute as Aliya Clouser run down a ball and cross it into the box to Hope Loyer. Loyer was under pressure from the Fort Jennings goal keeper Mackenna Stechschulte who did enough to put Loyer off as Loyer’s shot rolled inches wide of the open Fort Jennings net.

“Our timing was off on a few scoring chances, ” said Crestview coach Dowler. “We probably had a chance to take a few more touches before we shot. Our girls are learning and we will try to get better from here on out.”

The Lady Musketeers end the scoring in the first half as a strong run from Abigail Koester who finished put Fort Jennings up 4-0.

Fort Jennings picked up another three goals in the second half as Luersman, Kayliegh Klir, and Savana Siebeneck all found the back of the net.

“It was tough,” said Crestview girls coach John Dowler. “29 seconds in, and we give up a goal. Fort Jennings was a very disciplined team today and I thought we played undisciplined. Second half we played better but by then the hole was already dug. We will regroup this weekend. We practice and then prepare for Allen East.”

“Our timing was off on a few scoring chance we probably had a chance to take a few more touches before we shot. Our girls are learning and we will try to get better from here on out,” finished Crestview coach Dowler.

Fort Jennings improves to 1-5 and Crestview drops to 1-6 on the season. Crestview will take on the Allen East Lady Mustangs on Tuesday in northwest conference play.
