ELIDA - As expected, Crestview was tabbed as the number one seed in the Division IV boys basketball district at Elida as high school boys basketball teams from around the state learned their tournament matchups.

The Knights picked up the top seed over Kalida, Ottoville and Wayne Trace with the Wildcats and Big Green taking byes.

Crestview (18-1) will open tournament play on March 1 against either Lima Temple Christian (7-12) or Fort Jennings (3-15) in game one of the evening at Van Wert High School. The Pioneers and Musketeers battle in the opener on February 26 at Van Wert.

The bottom half of the Van Wert sectional will have Lima Central Catholic (9-9) against Continental (2-15) in the second game February 26 with that winner returning on March 1 to play Delphos St. John’s (13-6) in the nightcap.

Sectional play at Paulding also will feed into the Elida district where opening night action on February 26 will have Lincolnview (10-8) battling Parkway (9-9) and Wayne Trace (14-5) tangling with Miller City (10-9).

The winner of the game between the Lancers and Panthers returns on March 1 to play Kalida (14-5) in the opener. Game two that evening has the victors of the Raiders-Wildcats battle coming back to Paulding to tangle with Ottoville (15-4).

Van Wert is part of the Division II sectional/district organized by Ohio Northern University with sectional games taking place at Lima Senior and Findlay.

At Lima Senior, the only game on February 26 will have Celina battling Napoleon with that winner returning to play on March 1 at 6:15 against Lima Shawnee.

Two games on February 27 feature Elida against Toledo Scott before Bryan takes on St. Marys. Those two victors will play in the second game at Lima Senior on March 1.

In the only game at Findlay on February 26, Van Wert tangles with Lima Bath in a 7:00 p.m. start.

The winner of the Cougars-Wildcats matchup then returns to Findlay on March 1 to play at 6:15 p.m. against Wauseon.

The two sectional games on February 27 have Defiance against Maumee and Wapakoneta playing Kenton. The winners from those two games then come back for the second game on March 1 at Findlay.

In the Division III district at Lima Senior, the four teams picking up byes were Archbold, Van Buren, Ottawa Glandorf and Bluffton.

The opener at the Elida sectional on February 26 will have Liberty Center taking on Liberty Benton with the winner returning March 1 to play Archbold in the 6:15 p.m. game.

In the nightcap on February 26, Paulding battles Coldwater with that victor returning to Elida for the second game March 1 against Van Buren.

At Miller City, Delphos Jefferson tangles with Spencerville in the opener of the night on February 26 while Fairview plays Tinora in game two.

The Delphos Jefferson-Spencerville winner comes back on March 1 in the 6:15 p.m. game against Ottawa Glandorf followed by Bluffton against either Coldwater or Paulding.
