ROCKFORD — Parkway swept the weekend as they defeated the Botkins Trojans 61-53 on Saturday night.

The Panthers capitalized on slow quarters by Botkins in the first and third in order to walk away with the victory. Mason Baxter led the Panthers in the match up with 18 points, while Preston Stober fought for nine rebounds. The Panthers shot 45 percent from the field compared to the Trojans just 41 percent.

Perhaps where the Panthers out-played their opponent the most was from behind the perimeter. Parkway shot 6-15 on 3-pointers while Botkins was 4-17. Parkway also crashed the boards most effectively than their opponent, getting 12 offensive boards and 14 defensive compared to Botkins nine and 12—respectively. Both teams did a fair job at not turning over the ball, only allowing a total of 15 turnovers between the two teams.

Parkway, now 2-0, will have a challenge this weekend as they take on two local schools. On Friday they will face off against Van Wert who lost their season opener Saturday against Lincolnview. On Saturday the Panthers will host Crestview.
