DEFIANCE — The boys high school golf season opened up on Monday at Eagle Rock Golf Course where Wayne Trace and Van Wert each took part.

The Raiders picked up an 11th place finish in the tournament with a 366 while the Cougars were 14th after recording a 392 on the day.

Napoleon won the tournament with a 342, nipping tournament runner-up Bryan which finished with a 343.

Kalida (345), Archbold (348) and Tinora (351) rounded out the top five schools.

Schools finishing sixth through tenth included Paulding (354), Wauseon (359), Antwerp (362), Defiance (363) and Ottawa Glandorf (366).

Van Wert was led by Zane Fast with a 91 while Evan Knittle carded a 98 and Cameron Terhark added a 99. Gavin Flickinger posted a 104 and Jace Fast had a 116 for the Cougars.

Kaden Sutton paced Wayne Trace with an 88 and teammate Evan Proxmire chipped in an 89. Reid Miller (92), Dane Moore (97) and Cale Crosby (99) rounded out the Raider golfers.

Paulding was led by Fletcher Cook with an 81 and Cole Heller posted an 87. Kolson Egnor (91), Chad Carper (95) and Hunter Kauser (96) were the other Panther players.
