ANTWERP - After wrapping up a stretch of seven games in 17 days last week, the Wayne Trace Lady Raiders returned to action on Friday following a week off.

The red, white and blue came out refreshed and rolled to a 61-32 win over Antwerp as the Lady Raiders improved to 9-3 overall and 2-0 in the Green Meadows Conference.

Wayne Trace did so following a great start, scoring the game’s first 11 points and jumping out to a 23-4 advantage after eight minutes of action.

It was just the start Raider head coach Bethany DeJarnett wanted to see.

“We came out ready to go and hit shots from the start,” noted the red, white and blue mentor. “With a little break in games, we were able to work on some things in practice and I thought the girls came out and played well tonight.”

Katie Stoller led the way in the opening quarter with seven points while Claire Sinn added six. Gracie Shepherd, Rachel Stoller and Katie Stoller also scored in the opening quarter.

The second stanza was much of the same as Wayne Trace picked up three point shots from four different players in hitting six overall in the quarter.

Claire Sinn hit a trio of treys in the period with Katie Stoller, Miriam Sinn and Christina Graham also connecting from beyond the arc. The Lady Raiders took a commanding 42-15 lead at the midway point of the contest.

Wayne Trace extended the lead to 56-21 at the end of three periods, sparked by a pair of baskets and a three-pointer from Rachel Stoller in the quarter.

“Everybody was able to make shots tonight,” added DeJarnett. “It was good to see the girls be able to convert on opportunities.”

Claire Sinn paced Wayne Trace with 19 points and eight rebounds while Katrina Stoller chipped in 11 markers. Rachel Stoller also reached double figures with ten points and Gracie Shepherd picked up nine markers, seven rebounds and three steals.

Antwerp was led by Astianna Coppes with eight points and five rebounds while Karsyn Brumett chipped in seven markers. Grace Schuette and Tierra Gomez scored five points each.

The Lady Archer junior varsity team defeated the Raiders 39-31 behind nine points from Ali Reinhart.

Hayleigh Jewell chipped in seven markers and Kennadi Recker bucketed six for Antwerp.

Abby Moore paced Wayne Trace with ten points and Abbie Stoller bucketed eight.

Wayne Trace returns to action on Monday as the Raiders host Lima Central Catholic in a non-league battle. Antwerp hosts North Central Saturday afternoon before the Archers welcome in Lincolnview on Tuesday.
